A new day

So, I've been planning to switch sites for a while, but the insane amount of small toys to be picked off the floors of my house has taken up all of my time. We had a great Christmas, how about you?

My very favorite Christmas carol is O Holy Night, and my very favorite lines go like this:

"Yonder the world in sin and error pining, till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn..."

That's pretty much what was on my mind this Christmas, other than wrapping and stockings and gingerbread men and my smoked salmon fettuccine.

So, I've been thinking a lot about web privacy lately, and observing what other people are saying. Some people that I've been reading have gone so far as to shut down their sites, worried about the privacy of their kids. I endeavor to write what will be honoring to my kids, not to put them down in any way, and I know that as they get older, the things I write about them will be more and more filtered, but I hemmed and hawed about what else I should do about the whole privacy issue and came to the conclusion that I should no longer call them by their real names. It is clumsy, I know, to change so late, and of course I haven't been able to get every single evidence of their names off of the internet. I will be working on my archives at blogspot, and redirecting here shortly, but I don't feel paranoid, merely that as I continue to write, hopefully through the years, they will have privacy. We'll see.

I think you'll pick up on the changes, and yes, Kid A is a shameless tribute to what is only the greatest band ever.

(Seriously, I am so, so clumsy at this, I have not transferred the recent comments over yet, so if you don't see your comments on the last few posts, just remember, I am not a professional. Not at all.)
