Reverb 10 ~ One Word

I love writing prompts. A month of prompts from Reverb 10 sounds lovely to me.

Today's prompt:

December 1 One Word.
Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?
(Author: Gwen Bell)

For 2010 the word I came up with is Wandering. The year was filled with moving about, and so much of it felt like wandering, especially the North American summer. Many of you know that Chinua and I are part of a community, part monasticism, part simple living; an exploration of Christian Practice that is open to seekers of all sorts. We want to be a haven for travelers, a place of welcome. Finding the home for this community and for our little family has been an interesting experience.

These years in Goa have been truly rewarding. I have grown to love it here with all my heart, and though community life is challenging, it is challenging in the best ways, the ways that make it straight to your heart and soften you. (While making you stronger.) However, the visa situation here has been changing, and it seems that we can be here for only six months at a time.

I have many questions. Six months a year is a brief time to be "home." We could do it with two homes, but nothing in a nearby country has presented itself.

And so, my word for 2011. The place, the word I would like to have and understand by this time next year?

Home. Wherever that may be.
