I sympathize, I really do.
And now for a glimpse into my mind, the mind of your random lactating human mammal.
Mother walking through a forest sees a monkey and her baby. Awwww. It reminded me of me and Solo!
(I’ve felt that stretch before. Ignore that last sentence if you are a man.)
But then the baby monkey started swinging his arm. I knew it would come to no good.
Oh! Hand messing with the face! The most annoying trick in the book, unless, of course, the hand stays gentle. But usually the hand wants to try to explore my mouth tooth by tooth, maybe stick a finger up my nose, maybe indulge in a little sharp nailed pinching of the jawline. Oh… hand on the face.
And then there’s distraction. Finish your meal, little monkey, finish your meal. I can’t believe the mother. She’s so patient. She’s not pushing her baby’s head back toward his unfinished meal. Not that I ever do that.
Oh, repentant, he’s back for more. They have a little cuddle. At this point, I almost turn around and go home to find Solo.
But then there’s the foot! Don’t even get me started on the foot. Solo has to drape his leg and foot over EVERYTHING. It’s crazy-driving. And cute. I’m always confused when I’m nursing. Cute? Annoying? Cute?
Cute.

Oh goodness, I just leaked a lot. I’m lactating right now and my 6 month old baby does almost the same things. Even down to the feet, although she grabs at my arm with her feet like monkey toes. It’s a good thing they are so cute because sometimes, especially when she proceeds to tighten her grip with her gums, pull her head back and push the boob with her hands away from her, I’m not surprised some parents eat their young. (Okay, that is a total joke, because no way would I eat or harm my baby….don’t call CPS!)
Cute. So much love, and you captured it so well, for us, for them. Yes, the stretch. Been there, done that, way too many times. Those are supposed to stay attached! The hands, the feet…. stunt nursing!
Wow, that is SO familiar! I cringed when I saw the first photo of baby stretching mama’s nipple, I think I felt it. I admire the mama’s patience so much.
This is hilarious!! I’m not really looking forward to that part of nursing this time around…so far Lucy just lays there. It’s quite a different thing with a toddler
It’s a good think that monkey babe couldn’t find his mama’s other nip with his other hand. Because HELLO TWEAKING. Ouch.
It is remarkably disheartening to realise that a monkey has more patience than I do. But not surprising.

I remember seeing a yawning mama dog lying on her side with about six puppies crawling all over her, nursing. The look on her face…haunts me. LOL. She and I were sisters at that moment.
